The technology around WiFi is evolving fast. Our social hotspot® customers will be using managed hotspot with WLAN 802.11ac standards. This technology has the benefit of allowing for up to 1300Mbit/s data transfer – this contrasts with older standards of 802.11n (450Mbit/s). It is important to understand that this “new” WiFi standard may only be utilized if the client device supports is. This is the case with the latest smartphones from HTC, Samsung Galaxy, iPhone and others.
